eNAV : E-navigation for Non-SOLAS vessels

News

Members of the ENAV project team, prof. Božo Krstajić. PhD, prof. Milutin Radonjić, PhD, and Igor Stanovčić, MSc visited the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration of Montenegro (UPSUL) in Bar on November 21, 2024.

The concept of the proposed e-navigation solution and the results of the ENAV project were first presented to the management of UPSUL, at a meeting attended by the director of UPSUL, Haris Husić, assistant director Nexhat Kapidani, Ph.D., and Žarko Lukšić, MSc, assistant director of UPSUL for the Navigation Safety Sector. All UPSUL management representatives evaluated the proposed solutions for e-navigation of non-SOLAS vessels as very important for increasing the safety of navigation and as a solution that could find its place in future legislation. They also gave a suggestion for improving the proposed solution, in terms of creating a compatible data format with the data sent by SOLAS vessels, which would make non-SOLAS vessels visible to all participants in maritime traffic through e-navigation.

On the same day, a visit was also made to the Center for Monitoring and Management of Maritime Traffic (VTMIS - Vessel Traffic Monitoring and Information System) in Dobre Vode. On that occasion, the technical details of the functioning of the VTS system and the data formats exchanged in this system were analyzed.
