eNAV : E-navigation for Non-SOLAS vessels

News

On December 3, the final, 11th experimental testing of the developed solution for e-navigation of non-SOLAS vessels and a dedicated device based on the RPi platform was carried out in Budva Bay.

At the 42nd symposium on new technologies in postal and telecommunication traffic - PosTel 2024, held at the Faculty of Transportation of the University of Belgrade, in the period 26-27 November 2024, head of the ENAV project, prof. Božo Krstajić, PhD, presented the paper "Telecommunication systems in the proposed solution for e-navigation of non-SOLAS vessels".

Members of the ENAV project team, prof. Božo Krstajić. PhD, prof. Milutin Radonjić, PhD, and Igor Stanovčić, MSc visited the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration of Montenegro (UPSUL) in Bar on November 21, 2024.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, a team of researchers from the ENAV project conducted a survey among vessel drivers in Perast, in order to gain insight into the evaluation of which functionalities of the Android application for e-navigation would be particularly important to them, as well as whether they would be ready to buy specially developed dedicated device for e-navigation of non-SOLAS vessels.

On Thursday, April 4, 2024. the fourth experimental field testing of the ENAV Android application for georeferencing non-SOLAS vessels and the cloud application for visualizing the collected data was performed, for the first time in the area of the Bay of Kotor. The area around Perast and the Gulf of Risan was chosen for the experimental verification, because even in this period of the year these areas face with intensive traffic of non-SOLAS vessels.

On the second day of the IT 2024 conference, on Thursday, February 22, in the poster section held from 6 p.m. in Hotel Žabljak, Igor Stanovčić, MSc, presented a paper entitled "An Approach to the Collision Detection of Non-SOLAS Vessels Using the Concept of e-Navigation", which was created as a result of work on the ENAV project.

The project "ENAV: e-Navigation for non-SOLAS vessels" was presented at the IT2024 conference, as part of the poster session named "Project Fair and Dissemination of Results", held on Wednesday, February 21, at 5:45 p.m. Project manager, prof. Božo Krstajić and researchers on the project, prof. Milutin Radonjić, and Igor Stanovčić, presented to the participants of the session the main motive and goal of the project, as well as the results achieved so far. The current version of the developed Android application was practically demonstrated and the server side of the application, which visualizes georeferenced vessels using the ENAV application, was shown.

As part of the presentation of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering to future students at the University of Montenegro Open Days event, which will take place on March 6, 2024, the project "Enav: E-Navigation for non-SOLAS vessels" will be presented.

Members of the ENAV project team, prof. Božo Krstajić, prof. Milutin Radonjić and prof. Enis Kočan on Thursday, February 15, 2024. performed the third field test of an application for georeferencing non-SOLAS vessels developed for smartphones within the project, and at the same time, a cloud application that collects data from all registered and active users of the application and visualizes it was tested for the first time.

The paper entitled "An Approach to the Collision Detection of Non-SOLAS Vessels Using the Concept of e-Navigation", authored by Igor Stanovčić, Milutin Radonjić, Enis Kočan, Božidar Škrbić and Božo Krstajić, which was created as a result of work on the ENAV project, has been accepted for publication at the 28th international scientific and professional conference Information Technology 2024 (IT2024), which will be held in Žabljak in the period 21-24. February 2024.
